Leading A Church Into Deeper Discipleship

Type: Presentation

Church leaders face frequent pressure to lead churches toward numerical growth. What is often missed in these efforts to grow “bigger” is the necessity to grow “deeper” – deeper in a congregation’s commitment to Christ, and more mature in its spiritual life and vitality. As author Mike Breen once wrote, “You can grow a church without making disciples. But if you first make disciples, the church will always grow.” This workshop will encourage and inspire leaders to discern their own vision for leading their congregations toward deeper discipleship, learning from how Hyde Park United Methodist Church in Tampa, Florida developed its year-long project of reading the Bible together.
